This publication outlines a comprehensive approach to strengthening genomic surveillance in the Western Pacific Region, informed by lessons from the COVID 19 pandemic. It sets out a shared regional approach that links molecular pathogen characterization technologies with multi-source surveillance to support timely public health action. The document presents the updated vision and priorities of the Emerging Molecular Pathogen Characterization Technologies (EMPaCT) Network, grounded in a One Health perspective and guided by adaptive learning, sustainability, and annual progress monitoring. It defines priority actions, country support mechanisms, supported by practical tools to strengthen regional connectivity, health security, and pandemic and epidemic preparedness.
