The WHO Mekong Malaria Elimination (MME) Programme supports countries in the Greater Mekong Subregion to eliminate malaria through coordinated regional action, strong partnerships and targeted technical assistance.

This is accomplished by:

  • Supporting implementation of malaria elimination strategies and targeted interventions, including responses to drug-resistant malaria
  • Strengthening regional and national surveillance, data systems and monitoring to guide elimination efforts
  • Facilitating coordinated advocacy, communication and collaboration among countries, WHO offices and key partners to sustain progress towards elimination

This programme supports malaria elimination strategies across six countries: Cambodia, China (Yunnan Province), the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Myanmar, Thailand, and Viet Nam.
