The Noncommunicable Diseases (NCD) Unit supports Member States in improving the prevention and management of noncommunicable diseases and related conditions through strengthened health systems and service delivery.

This is accomplished by:

  • Strengthening risk-based approaches to early detection, treatment and continuity of care for cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases, and priority conditions including oral, eye and hearing health
  • Supporting integration of noncommunicable disease services within primary health care and across the continuum of care to improve quality, access and equity
  • Advancing health system capacity, standards and monitoring to support achievement of global, regional and national targets for reducing premature mortality due to noncommunicable diseases
